PROJECT 2043

Upside down and inside out is exactly what this house was all about. To fulfil the brief, both the client and the property had to embrace some major design interventions. The original home placed all the bedrooms and living areas on the upper floor, while the ground floor consisted of store rooms and small, disconnected spaces with very little connection to the garden and pool. It was clear that the layout did not support the way the family wanted to live, so the design process began with a complete rethink of how the house should function.

The completed project transformed the home entirely. All the main living areas were moved downstairs, with direct access from the new garage into the heart of the home. A carefully designed steel and glass addition was introduced to the front of the dwelling, creating a double volume space that links the two levels and allows light to flow throughout. This new intervention not only reshaped the experience of moving through the house, but also opened up views from both floors into the garden and the surrounding natural setting. The result is a home that finally lives the way it was always meant to.
