BLOOMINGDALES

The existing precinct was outdated and many spaces were impractical, therefore functionality needed to be re-introduced whilst keeping the centre’s identity. The complete existing structure to the ground floor was retained, with any intervention being clearly interpreted through colour and material detail.

The entire first floor was added over the existing by means of a lightweight structure, but to a scale and consistency that does not dominate any space. Furthermore, a vein of double volume runs through the building to help orientate oneself and connect activity across all floors between old and new.
